I love classical music, Opera -- and jazz. I have a longtime interest in New Orleans, and the people who created the art from we call jazz. I was fortunate many years ago to visit New Orleans and to become friends with many of those musicians -- most now gone -- and still enjoy listening to their music. I have photographed many of them onstage and in their homes.
But I also enjoy newer forms of jazz, so long as it is musical. (I do not understand, and do not enjoy, the reed-splitting genre of saxophone, nor electric/electronic music. The guitar was invented as an acoustic instrument, and I simply don't appreciate what passes today for guitar playing.)
I enjoy good vocalists -- Tony Bennett, Rosemary Clooney, Nancy Wilson, Annie Sellick -- and Big Band.
On the classical side, chamber music is marvelous; I can spend an evening anytime with a good book and a chamber quartet.
Eclectic? Yep.
Are thee others out there like me?
