As a writer, my listening choices tend to be experimental. The mood of a piece is almost more important than the lyrics; emotional nuance and subtlety allow the listener the freedom of reaction. That said, sometimes it's just fun to just rock out.
My favorite genres include early glam rock, post-punk, industrial, trance, trip-hop, indie/alternative, grunge, new wave, dark wave, ebm, experimental and electronica/chill.
My favorite artists include Brian Eno, Robert Fripp, Sigur Ros, Cocteau Twins, Dead Can Dance, VNV Nation, Tool, Harvey Danger and Bauhaus.
