Bio:
Long-time blogger on topics of professional interest (employment law; HR; other employment-related topics) at www.employmentblawg.com.
Started listening to Top 40 in the late 60s. Semi-Deadhead in college years. College radio DJ and program director mid-70s. Access to station record library picked-through by thieves led to discovery of much older music that influenced the 60s and 70s artists I had initially been listening to.
Acquired taste for honky-tonk country and hard-core bluegrass as evolution from 70s country-rock. Similarly, blues-rock (Cream, Allmans) led to discovery of hard-core urban electric blues and rural acoustic blues, especially featuring harmonica and/or slide guitar. Love jazz saxophone, especially swingier and bluesier styles. Recently a short-lived radio station playing jazz singers led me to a taste for the crooners I'd have laughed off in my youth. Somewhere along the way, got a taste for Motown and classic soul and funk.
I guess you could say I just plain like authentic American music of all kinds, close to the roots. At my age (born 1957), haven't kept up with "new" bands since the early 1980s when I was briefly addicted to 1st generation MTV.
