I basically love music that has great harmonies and good singers. If your band had a terrible singer, in my opinion, then it doesn't matter to me if you have the best music in the world, i probably won't like the music. I like to listen to pop/rock, alternative, and classic rock, but sometimes I give in and listen to metal music like metallica, judas priest, and iron maiden.
