Being, as you can guess, 'up there in years', I grew up on swing and big band, and those are still my favorites. But I like a good up-beat in any form, and ballads always intrigue me. The composers and lyricists of the 30s and 40s, however, have never been beat, as a group. Dixieland jazz is also high on my list.
