I like everything! Well, not everything, but most things. Stuff with a beat you can dance to. Stuff that reminds you of movie scenes. Stuff you can listen to cleaning your house. Stuff that makes you feel good. Stuff that goes hand in hand with a sunny, cloudy or rainy day. I like it all. Except "nu-metal" or rap-rock or people who scream for no reason...
I'm really into finding new stuff now, but returning to the things that created the "new stuff" is a new obsession. Pixies, Elliot Smith, Violent Femmes, Miracle Legion, The Smiths, old Ryan Adams, REM, The Frames and David Gray, even some vintage U2 (pre-world heroics). It's kinda cool to listen to the progression of artists over time. <-That kinda sounded a little douche-y, but I'm not one, or at least a complete one, promise.
Life should be like a movie, complete with soundtrack. Maybe not like a horror movie, or those sappy romance things, but more like a movie you might not watch because it'd be boring or you might watch even though it's boring but has a great soundtrack either way (see Garden State). All of that is to say, create a soundtrack to your life and start by listening to wicked awesome music.
As I read this back to myself I thought, "Holy crapballs, I sound pompous and arrogant." I'm really not, I swear. Not that I care what you think, but I'm just saying... I could have just re-written it, but that would take work, which I'm kinda not into.
