Hi my name is Mikey "La India" Gavilan.
I am the daughter of the famous boxing legend, Kid Gavilan and niece to the equally famous latin music icon, Celia Cruz. I am not here as a celebrity, I am here as an ordinary person with an extra ordinary heart and a passion for music and people. I am a musician, writer, producer and then some; Currently on a much needed and extended sabatical. Though rare, I still make occassional live appearances for special events, and benefits, I am planning to stay in semi-retirement. Music has been a part of my heart, my soul and my life, ever since I could remember. I love all kinds of music and have played everything from Jazz, to Latin, to R&B, to Rock, to Country, and more. I am an extremely versatile individual and I love variety. I have been in the music business for over thirty-five years. But it's time to sit back and watch it's continued growth and magic live on!
I was born in Cuba, raised in New York, and have lived in New York, New Jersey, California, and here in Miami. I have played every where with the greatest artists and musicians on the planet!
