Usually, I like to hear a certain guitar sound. I like the sound of acoustic wood guitars. I also like unique-sounding artists, and sometimes lots of keyboard. Lyrics are important to me. Sometimes I will choose a song or artist for the memory that it gives me, and sometimes because the sound is so fresh that I want to "hear more like this". I usually don't like a very dissonant sound, just like I don't prefer 20th century classical music.
