I like a broad range of music as long as it is adventurous, passionate, a bit unpredictable and distinguishable from the glut of garden-variety, sound-alike artists who pervade every nook and cranny of the music industry. Give me distinctive vocals, left-of-center solos, clever harmonies, soulfulness and a few unexpected twists and turns. The music can be slick or ragged, though I like the musicians to have at least a modicum of technique, tastefully employed.

My radio stations contain only about 20 percent hits and the rest B-sides/album cuts because I like to be surprised.
