My taste in music is very eclectic but somewhat cyclical in what I "love". By this I mean I have phases that I go through. I listen to most everything but some of passes as music in the pop categories of modern country, hip-hop, r&b and dance music that are flooding the airwaves. Some of it is OK, but most of it barely qualifies as music let alone any definition of creative artistry.
Right now, I am really into 20th century American and European folk music. Specifically, 40s, 50s, 60s and some 70s American folk and Scandinavian and Irish folk on the European side.
I have a lot of electronic music background as well, but I tend to shy away from the heavily processed, repetitive "four on the floor" dance music. Most of the stuff I am into is usually clumped into the ill-named "I.D.M." category. I am a big fan of Richard D. James in all of his incarnations. The newer Venetian Snares stuff is really good too.
I also am a fan of the Classical and Romantic period music, with my favorite composers being Beethoven and Chopin, respectfully. I do also have a smaller collection of more modern composers works, such as Philip Glass, John Cage, Carl Orff and Angelo Badalamenti.
