Music that's soulful and easy to replicate so I can get more comfy with performing. I'm looking at sung waltzes right now and hope to prepare for a contradance in-between set - perhaps a french song by L. Rondstadt (I love French, I love waltzes, it's easy-sounding, what's not to love?). I found another one (on my radio station "here before" on my station list) called Holding My Heart by Jessica Sonner that also looks great. Thinking of a Banjo and violin solos and clarinet harmonies. I'll be playing some flute during the dance too. We're a large band looking for new set tunes that we can volley back and forth the melodies on and lace harmonies into. Anyone have any ideas - or better - arrangements for winds, strings, piano, banjo, guitars and bass? And come to the festival weekend for NYC English and contra dancers October 2-4, 2009 called SYNERGY in Hopewell Junction, NY, where we'll be playing (The Contrapolitans). See www.cdny.org!
