It's ALL about the Voice. To achieve all of the vocal qualities listed below requires lyrical depth and creativity. To complement such a strong vocal sound requires musicians equal in emotive and technical skill, and complex instrumental composition.

The Voice:
Vocal-centric aesthetic; Demanding vocal performances; An aggressive, distinctive, dynamic, and somewhat gravelly male vocalist; An emotional male lead vocal performance

The Writing:
Melodic songwriting; Upbeat, narrative, and sometimes angry or political lyrics; Through-Composed melodic styles; Intricate melodic phrasing; Demanding instrumental part writing; Varying tempo and time signatures; Minor key tonality; Chromatic harmonic structure; Mixed acoustic and electric instrumentation

The Sound:
Hard Rock roots with Blues influences and slight Pop Metal qualities (and perhaps an occasional touch of Punk);
A clear focus on professional recording studio production;
Subtle to heavy use of vocal harmony, from paired to interweaving to antiphony to counterpoint -- it's still all about the Voice;
