I am a Vanderbilt graduate student in Biology. I spend most of my time there. When I can get away, I go straight for anything that resembles the country side. My family is mostly from the country, so I like nature more that the big cities.
I am christian. I grew-up in church so I learned how to act and be 'churched'. But when I started to spend time away from church, I finally was to think for my self and take the religion for what it was. I know that does not make sense, but thats how it happened. I take it pretty seriously.
I like drums. I generally pic my favorite songs based by unique percussive quality they have. My family played drums during the old-days... well not necessarily store-bought drums. They were moreso makeshift instrements from wooden or metal barrels. My grandparents taught me allittle druming and I learned more from collegeate/highschool percussionist. I liked the oldfolks' drumming allittle more but I don't get to hear it often. Thats why I added the Othar Turner station. Hopefully Pandora replaces some of the guitar on this station for more percussive instruments.
I also like slow music with lots of unique chords or jazzy progressions. Especially if the vocalist bring a unique sound and passion/emotion to his/her music.
I like some songs just because of the lyrics. I think some rap songs have very strong lyrics and eventhough the beat isn't all that, I would generally be moved by and enjoy the song.
Beyond music, my interest include Capoeira, Bioengineering and Cooking.
