Yes, I'm sure the mix of electric blues, female vocal folk and ambient/chill/electronica is puzzling to most, but here's how I understand myself:
- the electric blues start for me with the tone - the emotional expression that these torn souls pour into and out through their guitar. The rest of the electric blues that I like extends from there, and with some musical training in my history, I even see the artistry and chops of shredding as good as Jeff Healey's "See the Light" or a good SRV solo.
- female vocal folk - touching tone & honest expression are the heart of my interest. They are (usually) less "whiny" or scratchy than their male counterparts, plus it's refreshing to rebalance the gender influence in my life.
- ambient/chill/electronica - no vocals to distract me (when I can't hardly parse out vocals from most music anyway - it's mostly just another instrument, since I can't usually hear the words), and a pleasant background to touch both the left *and* right brain - presumably inspiring a much more integrative approach in my work.
