I am a very positive person and the music I listen to reflects that. I love gospel music, but my moods truly dictate the sound I'm looking for on any given day. I am not a Canton Spirituals girl. When I need to get amped - Tye Tribbet; When I need some peace - CeCe Winans. Everyday its something different.
I'm not a one sided individual so I don't only listen to gospel. I like happy rap. I love some of the old school stuff like salt-n-peppa, mc lyte, etc. I loved the rap scene when the music was bangin', the rythm was rockin', and no one was out to kill anyone else. I wasn't a female dog, black people weren't niggas, and selling drugs wasn't a glorified profession.
Finally, there is the side of me that truly loves musicians - so I married one. As a consequence, I listen to music that doesn't get bogged down with lyrics. I listen to this music for its instrumentation and genius. Joey Defrancesco, Eric Clapton(guitar solos more than lyrics for me).
Well thats it. I mean I could go on and on, but why.
