Jazz is my lifeline; it carries me through everything the way gospel does for some. There's a soundtrack in my head, everything from skylark and someday my prince will come to giant steps and salt peanuts. My friends, as you know I've moved back to the West Coast. Atlanta kicked me out. Oh well, no hard feelings. My mother came of age in Harlem; I started out in Chicago, lived around the corner from the current FLOTUS, graduated Hyde Park HS and fled west. Now I'm loving the city by the Bay where the jazz and arts scenes are fabuloso. In June the fam are going to party with Roberta Flack free at Stern Grove in Golden Gate Park. (Get there early if you're going, too.) The next weekend we'll be hanging out with Les Nubiennes. Hot fun in the fog. See you there!
