Stream of consciousness music stuff about me:
...a few decades of playing music. From small symphonic work to ensemble work...from solo work to playing flute with acoustic guitars and mandolin…from playing sax in jazz and dance bands to self instructed classical guitar…from minoring in bassoon (learning all the pedagogy, reed creation etc.) to playing assorted parts/instruments in a Sufi Zhikr band. This doesn’t include the numerous marching and military bands and small event groups nor even the trio, quartet and quintet work I enjoyed so much.

Music has been a large part of my life. Even though I took an extended hiatus shortly after experiencing County Sheriff cruisers racing over hill tops while their occupants were firing small arms during what was billed as a ‘drug bust’ at an outdoor rock concert in Florida decades ago. Oh, by the way, I was onstage with my group at the time…I think that Mudcrutch (later called the Heartbreakers, only to be resurrected in 2008 as Mudcrutch again) played on the venue too.

Playing in solo and ensemble contests, receiving over 36 first place ribbons in my youth, studying jazz piano with David Baker (from Down Beat’s top players list), listening to the echoes while playing alone in churches, experiencing the calm of being the ‘center’ while playing Zhikr for over 500 dancers all in orange, playing Moonlight Serenade and Dancing on the Ceiling while drifting around a large lake in a square rigger on a full mooned night (Culver)…first paid gig being a political add “We want Drayer, for Mayor”…on piccolo.

The PVC flute created by a Mensa Libertarian friend of mine that played as well as any silver flute or piccolo…even had a small hole so it could be hung on a belt! (Where are you Harry Reid?)

The afternoon rehearsal of the Fort Myers Symphony, Arlo Diebler conducting….and, after asking for their apparently missing piccolo music for Respighi’s “The Pines of Rome”…and playing it perfectly anyway thus being asked to retur
