My name is Emily, but I am more commonly known as Emi. I've been trying to grow out of that nickname, as I find it slightly babyish, and grow into a new one, but so far I am unsuccessful. So I guess for now, Emi is here to stay.

Writing is my soul. Without it I would be nothing. It's the closest anyone can get to being God. It allows one to create their own world and make things go exactly the way they want, even when nothing seems to go right in real life. And it's comforting. Sometimes, if there's something I want to experience really badly, like getting a dog or having at least a decent love life, I can make it happen to my characters and imagine their emotions. It is not like the real thing, of course, but it's a good substitute.

For me, writing is more than just a hobby. It's my haven. I wouldn't have gotten through several hard times without it. It serves as my confidante--it's the only "place" or time where/when I can completely express my anger, sadness, glee, etc., and there is no one to judge me or tell me I'm wrong.

I'm also kind of a grammar geek/word nerd. Honestly, I dislike grammar homework just as much as the average person would, but I am so glad I learned it, and I am eager to take in more. I eat it up. Let me say one thing: I hate improper grammar. People who use crazy-long run-on sentences with no punctuation whatsoever really give me a headache. It's not that hard to throw in a semicolon or use the right "their/there/they're". Simply put, terrible grammar makes me want to scalp myself.

As for the word-nerd part of it-- I just have a thing for learning new words. They help me write better. They make my speech more interesting. And it's so cool to learn their etymology.

I guess by now, whoever is reading this has either stopped, or thinks I am a crazy, stuffy, weird, grammar-police geek. Feel free to think that way, but just to let you know, if that's how your mind works, well, then, I think you're narrow-minded. :D
