I LOVE music! If I'm not mixing, remixing or attempting to write then I'm probably singing along with something or shopping for new music online. I've been DJing Progessive House and Trance, Breaks, "Intelligent" Drum & Bass (although I hate the name "intelligent" for that genre) and Down Tempo/Ambient music for 8+ years. Lately I've been getting really into Deep/Disco House music as well as Afro/Jazz influenced House. I'm a sucker for strings in any form and I'm insanely jealous of any accomplished player, especially violin and cello players. Because of my love of electronic music and strings I am naturally a big fan of true 70's disco. It's one of my guilty pleasures. I am also the definition of a music snob. I believe that if you are going to bother to put lyrics in a song/piece then they should mean something. Therefore, as a general rule, I have little to no use for most Pop, "New" Rap (50 cent and the likes) Beach Music and Country. I believe that Rap done right is true "Ghetto Poetry". Listen to GZA - you will see what I mean. I believe music is best, in any form, when it invokes an emotional response from the listener. I believe Thom Yorke's voice should be considered an instrument. Bjork too. I believe DJing is an art form and if you don't think so then you haven't seen a truly good DJ. Try beat matching and mixing your two favorite songs and you will see what I mean. I believe in keeping an open mind when it comes to music and I will give ANYTHING a chance. I believe electronic music is the modern day classical (how many composers are writing symphonies these days?). I wish everyone appreciated electronic music. Listen to ANY electronic song and then pretend you have to sit in front of a computer or keyboard and write it! I love introducing people to new music. Last but not least, I truly care about YOUR opinions when it comes to music. Will I agree with your opinions? Maybe. Maybe not. Either way, I want to hear them!
