I like mostly indie stuff. There is something pure, raw and real about creating for yourself rather than the masses. It is a rare mainstream band who can maintain that as well as the public's interest. I was in a musical rut for awhile, convinced by the radio stations that there was nothing new out there worth listening to. So, in the middle of a 3-year boycott of radio stations (with one exception - I am an unrepentant NPR nerd), I found Pandora and discovered that I was missing some really good stuff that had been put out there in the world during that time that I had missed. I discovered/rediscovered some new and old favorites and feel like I have rejoined the living, breathing indie rock scene. My current "new" loves are: Blue October, Joshua Radin, Matt Nathanson, The Fray, The Killers, Keane, Mat Kearney, Dashboard Confessional, Snow Patrol, and (as much as I would love to unreasonably and pretentiously snub them simply because they are SO mainstream) Coldplay. My old favorites are (and will always be): Counting Crows, Ani Difranco, Postal Service, The Shins, Pearl Jam, Indigo Girls, and Me First and the Gimmee Gimmees
