I've got grown kids and some grandkids. So that tells you something about my age. I've played acoustic guitar since 8 yrs old. First saw Mahavishnu Orchestra around 1973. Later, took my future wife to see Shakti, who told me it was awesome. 30 odd years later she tells me she only said that to impress me! From my introduction to McLaughlin, I branched out to the wide range of jazz and fusion artists, including Miles Davis, Chick Corea, Keith Jarrett, many others. To the extreme of that, my guitar playing was mostly influenced by the 60s folk revival, finger style and blues from John Mayall, Leo Kottke, et al. And I Sometimes play at an open bluegrass jam in Gettysburg, PA.
Being for awhile a college voice major, I still have a strong affinity for medieval and renaissance music. I can be a purist, but also love the British folk revival and fusionists like Pentangle (Renbourn,Jansch), and Steeleye Span (Maddy Prior).
