My dad, Joseph R. Schwartz and his brother-in-law, Art Schwartz, an uncle by marriage to Dad's sister Ruth Schwartz, loved jazz and had great 78-RPM records. I have wonderful memories of great music growing up as a result and of listening to AfroCuban sounds from the radio stations broadcasting music from Cuba. Dad especially loved the Paul Whiteman Orchestra; Art loved Ruby Braf. I loved Louis Armstrong, Bix Beiderbeck, Gerry Mulligan, Chet Baker, Bob Brookmeyer, Stan Getz, Charlie Byrd, Chico Hamilton, Marion McPartland, and Stanley Turrentine, Kai Winding & J.J. Johnson. My favs are now Winton Marsalis, Bill Collum, Stan Kenton, Earl Fatha Hines, Oscar Peterson, Bill Flannigan, Fats Waller, Count Basie, and countless others!
