Bio

Surfing the waves of California, Baja Mexico, and Costa Rica since the nineteen sixties, surfcentral started playing grand piano and guitar at home. Early influences were Mick Taylor, Bob Dylan, early Fleetwood MAc, and Santana, where surfcentral watched the crowd boo Steppenwolf OFF the STAGE, and had Santana, at seventeen years of age, return to continue rocking the Sports Arena in San Diego. A 1960's concert by Cream at the Sunset Cliffs college of Cal Western saw surfcentral and all his surfer friends climb the roof to watch the concert clandestinely through the ventilators. Later, Navy Seals would ride up to the hidden coves of Sunset Cliffs to try to enlist the crew and have them sign up for duty. To this day, no surfers have had that experience. This is how good the Newbreak Crew was in the 1960's, 1970's, and 1980's.

Jimi Hendrix said you would never hear surf music again, but surfcentral played guitar and made sure you did, with Mark Ashmore and the Doc, who taught the Momma's and the Poppa's how to play guitar, while Ashmore drummed backup with Tom Wait in Chula Vista.
With over 40 years of surfing and music under his belt, one would think the surfer bloated beyond recognition. Not yet satisfied with the history of Rock and Roll, surfcentral will return to San Diego en route to China, and play yet again another great house party concert, which will change the learning curve for years to come around southern California. Oh yeah, Neil Young and the Ducks was the best concert EVER at the Catalyst in Santa Cruz, 1980. Surfcentral paddled out and rode Mitchell's Cove before Surfer Magazine arrived.
