I don't thumbs-up music that doesn't speak to me. Not in lyrics, but through instrumental chords and notes. People think the deepness of the song depends on simply the lyrics, whether it tells a story, or the figurative language it leaves up to you to explain. But I don't like Nirvana because I can't figure out what they say. I don't just like Metallica because of their lyrics. In fact, my favorite song of theirs is To Live Is To Die, completely instrumental. In my opinion, songs speak for themselves. And for whoever thinks different, just think of how better off bands like Boys Like Girls or Falloutboy would be if the singers didn't sing.
