Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day You fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way. Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town Waiting for someone or something to show you the way.

God these pink floydians are almost as good as kanye west... amirite? Sarcasm on the ten fold.... music these days.... a monkey could do better, while pink Floyd will reign its supremacy forevermore
Lets compare this to call me maybe. Time is a song everyone here can relate to, understand, and see that it has meaning. Call me maybe is either about a desire to get laid, or possibly the start of a relationship. How ••••ing cliché.
You know , the Stones did Time is on My Side, Pink Floyd's TIME seems much later and maybe the process of dealing with the passage of time has become dull. Certainly two songs written at different stages of the bands careers Pink Floyd had progressed through some of the psychedelic sounds of the 60's to a very revolutionary sound in the early 70s, separating itself from many of the bands of those days. It might be some of David Gilmour's best lyrical work.
Ten years have got behind you, you missed the starting gun, no one told you when to run. Those words have a whole new meaning when you start getting older. When I was young and heard them they did not seem true. Now that I am 50, wow. This songs really makes you think about your life.
This song always made me a little paranoid, but I guess that makes sense being a drummer/percussionist, but then the vocal comes in and changes the entire mood....false alarm on the bombs going off in my mind, only David with some deep inner thoughts.
