My obsession with music started when the older neighborhood kids introduced me to hiphop at age 10. A local DJ kept us up to date on the latest records with weekly mixtapes. Looking back on it now, I never realised how good we had it with Clay D, MC Shy D, Newcleus, LL Cool J, Jam Pony Express, Dougie Fresh, Roxanne, UTFO, Egyptian Lover, MC ADE, 2 Live Crew, African Bambaataa, Afro Rican, Cool Mo De, and others. For years I listened only to hiphop, until realizing "Gangster Rap" had reduced this amazing artistic medium into a chauvinistic, hate filled diatribe. Soon I found myself reduced to Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Black Sheep and a few other positive, upbeat intellectuals, I wandered from Punk, Industrial, Country and Death Metal for a few years until I heard the future. Sasha & Digweed Renaissance Mix enthrallled me circa 1994. Outside of the Moonshine 140-180 BPM s**t, techno was scarce. Least until I found Breaks in 98' and now its tech-hop hybrid TRAP.
