Michael ‘RedDog’ Redmond was born of poor Irish immigrant parents on a dark and rainy evening in Canton; it was the summer of 1954. A music fan since childhood, RedDog fell in love with the British Invasion bands of the sixties, and the music on which it was largely based, the Blues. As a teenager he played keyboards, a Farfisa Combo Compact Organ being his favorite, until later discovering his instrument of choice, the electric guitar. The early eighties resurgence of ‘Americana Roots-Rock’ infected RD to the point that he has been playing in a variety of bands almost non-stop ever since. Quick to mix any and all influences, his irreverent approach and guitar styling’s bring a zest and brio to his music. The veteran musician now enjoys fronting the formidable trio ‘RedDog and the Fleas’.
RedDog currently resides in Texas with his wife, Debbie, and their overweight Manx cat, Jessie, where they enjoy barbequing, constant home repair, and drinking beer. Once an enthusiastic chain smoker, RD traded in the habit several years ago, for a custom built Gibson Firebird Guitar, boo-rah and nuff said! Small children look up to him, he loves America, and the only thing he fears in life is the Chupacabra. Still, some people think he’s a total azhole: go figure.
