I grew up surrounded with classical music only (mom is a singer born and raised in Germany and dad plays piano, organ, violin, viola, cello... etc.) It wasn't until about age 10 that I started to be introduced to all kinds of other music. My big bro is a professional musician who plays french horn and a bunch of other orchestral instrument ~ but also has fronted bands singing, playing guitar, bass, keys, horns, even harmonica and teaches most of those as well. I have had a chance to appreciate a lot of different types of music and find that I like so many varied sounds. I have a deep love for things that are thickly scored and drivey (hence the progressive stuff) but also super simplistic things with great tonality and well-written lyrical and musical content (90s Indie). The only types of music I've never really found a connection with is most modern R&B and some electronic.
