I have searched the radio waves and beyond for something different my whole life. I'm never satisfied with hearing the same band day in and day out. No matter how much I love a sound, I know that in a day or two I'll be scouring my friends cd collections and ipods for something new- even if that something new is ages older than me... Music has so many different faces, so many moods- just like me.
Mostly I listen to reggae dub and old school reggae but I still listen to a lot of classic rock in the car (no reggae stations around my current town). While I still keep my ear tuned in to new rock and alternative music, I'm soooo over all the whiney emo-rock that everyones been blasting for the last few years (whats up with that, anyway?) I always gotta support my female rockers, and while the good ones may seem few and far between I can't live without the likes of India. Arie, No Doubt, and Edie Brickell. I even have some hip-hop in my discography, not most of the 'bump and grind' type stuff, but stuff like Marc Ronson, Busta Rhymes, Jurassic 5, and Snoop.
Outside of music, I like to play on the beach or in the water. I've recently taken up hiking and have started the Appalachian trail. So far my top milage day is 15 miles!
I am an avid writer and plan to one day use my music knowledge to put feeling to the greatest script ever written (mine! jk). While writing still isn't paying my bills, I work for a construction company to cover my expenses...rarely leaving enough to add to my music collection.
To the lame-o's out there who like to criticize bands 'just cuz': Its easy to hate and be hated, it takes no skill or personality... but it takes courage to love and be loved, especially since not everyone will love you, no matter what you do. Maybe when you grow up, you'll realize that internet-posted-jabs are cowardly and show a lack of depth.
