So the historical progression goes: metalhead kid to young adult punk-rock entheusiast, to industrial and electronic rivethead, to surf guitar player, to psychobilly guitar player, to "wait, what happened to all the other stuff I used to listen to?" music fan.
I love American music - that is to say, music that defines the American Experience. I know that sounds pretentious, but I believe that the rawest, purest means of expression can be found in American roots music, as well as its progression into modern sounds. But, hey, it's music, not rocket surgery - so enjoy it for what it is.
That said, the 4-4 electronic pulse of a sick industrial track, or the brutal guitar of a seemingly outdated thrash track, gooey synth-pop, chill lounge organs, reverb laden surf guitar, all of that holds a pretty damn special place, too ;-)
