I was a very lucky child, I listened to music that others only dreamed of.My Father who passed away in 1988 was one of the greatest Guitaristthat ever lived. Although he never really played professionally his style and talent can be heard today in the music of Merle Travis and Chet Atkins. In the early 30s' he was working as a fireman on an old steam locomotive. In a 3C camp he met a man named Merle Travis, Dad had already made friends with a man named Everly and a man called Fiddling Dick. During their off hours they would get together and play. I had the pleasure and honor of meeting Mr. Travis during a stop in my home town of Athens Ohio. From Mr. Travis's on mouth he told me of how many hours my father took with him in teaching what he called the "Kentucky Three Finger"Style of picking. I grew up on that music and still love it. Due to the range of cords reached by my father without ever using a pick got him the name of (Wild Bill).
