Given I'm older than the average joe or jane, I tend to like folksy-country-blue grass music.
I grew up all over the world, and love music from most any country. Most of my life, from college and beyond, has been spent living in the Live Music Capitol of the World--Austin, Texas. Unfortunately, I just moved to the Dallas area (boo hoo) and miss all of the live music venues available in Austin.
Used to sit across a small table on Wednesday evenings in a hole-in-the wall barbeque place chatting with Marcia Ball and other brilliant women songwriters. Those were the days!!
I compose music (via piano/keyboard)---though what I write sounds more like movie themes (with or without lyrics) than anything else...more along the lines of Bridge Over Troubled Waters or Summer of '42.
I love reggae...country....world beat...classical. About the only thing I'm not that fond of is opera. Wanted to go to sleep in those operatic parts of Immortal Beloved, though I enjoyed the rest of the movie.
If anyone has any suggestions for great music venues in the North Dallas area...please drop me a shout.
