I've been into alternative for a long time, but avoided goth-metal. I was watching some videos on youtube and saw two that used the music of Within Temptation. I liked the music. Went to itunes and downloaded their newest, 'The Heart of Everything'. Listening to that cd was a defining moment for me. It totally blew me away. There isn't a single song on the disk that I don't love. I went on to purchase everything they had and in October I bought their DVD 'Black Symphony'. It was a revelation to me. I couldn't have imagined how perfect the blend of heavy metal and symphny with a full choir could be. I went on to listen to Lacuna Coil, Nightwish, Evanescence and Tarja. There are others that I love, too, but these are my main passions right now. The music of WT and Evanescence literally moves my soul. It's frustrating because I really don't know anyone else who is into this genre. No one has ever heard of them except maybe Evanescence. I find that more and more, I am into the European music scene.
