I love Canadian bands from all decades but this decade has to be the best yet! From East to West! All those wind chill factor warnings, overcast for days, long and humid summer evenings gave birth music by:
Stars, Metric, Arcade Fire, Broken Down Social Scene, Estero, Bedouin Soundclash, Feist, Final Fantasy, the Stills, Tegan and Sara, etc.. etc.. etc..
Canadian music is more then Celine, Shania and Avril.
As well, listening to Pandora helps ease my homesick 'maple-syrup-beavertail-poutine-ketchup-chips-CBC-hockey-night-in-Canada' heart.
Hall of Famers: The Beatles, Leonard Cohen, Neil Young, the Traveling Wilburys, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Sloan, Radiohead, Beck, Modest Mouse, Death Cab for Cutie, Flaming Lips, Brighteyes, M.I.A., the Postal Service, Bjork, Imogen Heap, Dntel, Sigur Ros, Wilco, CSS, the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs, White Stripes, the Strokes, The Hives, Aretha Franklin, Nina Simone, all jazz, all good rock, Pavement, Black Flag, Apples in Stereo, Sia, Jose Gonzalez, Zero7, the Clash, Nirvana, RHCP, and Amy Winehouse (tragedy for tragic times)
