Born In Managua, the Capital city of Nicaragua,Central America- Dj Cesar moved to San Francisco, California in 1964. It was at Mission High School that he met with Pablo Telles from Granada, Nicaragua, who became the bass player for the Jorge Santana MALO Band , and Rolando Sanchez from Masaya, Nicaragua who now lives in Hawaii and has his band called Hawaii Latino and other musicians that were starting the Latin music move at the time, including Carlos Santana, who was the older guy and was famous by then and Jose "Chepito" Areas, who we love very much "al hijueputa Chaparro". All this happened in the Mission District in San Francisco, the city of the Golden Gate. Dj Cesar's passion for Salsa was born while listenig to his father CESAR SENIOR's repertoire of LA SONORA MATANCERA, specifically, Daniel Santos and Bienvenido Granda, Tito Puente and the Queen herself, CELIA CRUZ. Actually, the rhythm was called Ritmos Tropicales CUBANOS, SALSA came later in 1972 while stationed with the US ARMY in Mannheim, Germany. The Bros did not speak German and there were no Latin Clubs there, so we stayed in our barracks and partied listening to EL GRAN COMBO, Willie Colon, Hector LaVoe, La Sonora Ponceña and THE FANIA ALL STARS. I still have many of those LP's which I treasure very much, they are in mint condition too. In 1982, while I worked for ZENITH Electronics, as the Materials Manager, you'member, I was given the oportunity to play on Saturdays at a radio station in Reynosa, Mexico, called RADIO CAñon, XERKS, 940AM, on Saturdays from 6:00pm to 7:00pm, so I called the program..LA HORA DE LA SALSA,until 1986 to 1996 when I helped at another Radio Station as the SALSA and MERENGUE music consultant, KQXX, Stereo MAR in McAllen, Texas alon with Jorge Ivan Galicia and Tina Compean.
