Born in D.C. but raised in the Windy city. My mother was an avid music fan of all genres. We could tell her mood by the music she'd play. Sunday was the day she'd clean house and fix the big dinner and if we knew what was good for us, we'd get out of her way. Early AM - breakfast/laundry/GOSPEL, Mid day - dinner prep/cleaning/BLUES, & by the time dinner was ready to serve, it was serious classic jazz moving into a little fusion til bedtime.
My personal leanings thru the mid 80's were an odd mix of Motown, Top 40 (when James Brown & Pat Boone shared the airwaves), folk and showtunes. School taught me to love the classics, literally, and while my friends were disco dancing, I was slipping into alternative clubs finding all kinds of musical trouble.
Getting older, my musical universe is continuing to expand, although having kids makes Iit seem like it’s exploding.. I admit, I am mellowing but definitely not dead. I still seek out new bands, instruments and songs. My life has its own soundtrack and I'm just glad I know most of the words. So bring it on can find something in almost genre, era, group, etc. that I enjoy. (Except disco, LOL!)
