One of the silliest questions you can ask a person is "do you like music?" Never ask this question because everybody likes music. I suppose the question is "what kind of music do you like?" If you ask this question and the answer is "I like everything", you can be assured that they do not know what kind of music they like. Furthermore, if a person names genres that they don't like (rap, country, jazz), you can also be assured that they are not serious music lovers. I believe that there is "pop" within every genre. Pop means that it is popular or made to be for the majority. There is good and bad pop within every genre too. I suppose that it is relative depending on who you are. Britney Spears and Madonna are "Pop". Pop what though? The Beach Boys are pop aren't they? Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson are country. But is it pop? Some of their songs might be more pop than others. Look at the country charts. That's pop! The Anticon label promotes artists that are rap/hip hop but it is not pop. Look at the rap charts. That's pop!
