Besides jazz, I like punk, soul, rock'n'roll, oldies, 20's jazz, Stooges, house, Residents/Chrome & guitat instrumentals. West Coast jazz is my favorite. I have an incredible LP, 78, & 45 collection. I try in vain to locate people enthusiastic about tunes. Music is embedded in our culture. Blues crawled out of the Mississippi mud. Slide guitar was given to us from Hawaii. San Francisco's wild Barbary Coast helped hook everybody on jazz as well as transforming dance bands into swing bands. Blues became urban, the best farmers becoming the best singers. So potent was this music that when various stations, including mexican ones, began blasting it and capturing imaginations, it became a big fad & a spiritual awakening. I was born into the middle of this & I can't ever forget it.
