Who Is This Goldenchild?...
Sharena Martin (born December 16, 1977) better known by her stage name Goldy is an R&B, Neo Soul recording artist/song writer and a “Please Me” vocalist from the North side of Chicago, Ill.
For her music sensibilities, she grew up listening to '70s soul and '80s hip-hop, but Goldy drew more comparisons to Erykah Badu upon her breakout in 2008, after the release of her first album, Life After Pain currently in your Best Buy Stores. She was a core member of the Divas of the Rock and is also a Motivational Speaker to Children who once was like herself homeless and had no one to run to. The grooves and production on the album are Soulfully Balanced, but Goldy's languorous and delicate phrasing immediately removed her from the legion of cookie-cutter female R&B singers.
Goldy has opened up for Major Artist such as Pleasure P, Case, Cupid, The Bar Kay’s and Lyfe Jennings. She has performed at many local and non local venues such as the Rev Room, Elevations, Sticky Fingers, The Prost Lounge, Zack’s, The After Thought, Club Hollywood, The Union and many more.
Sharena Martin B.K.A Goldy lived with her Grandmother due to her mother and fathers drug use.
At the age of 7 she became homeless, hungry and lonely. By age of 14 she began working at McDonalds in order to feed and take care of herself. Indeed life was challenging for her. She found her life with music being written in ink on pieces of napkins. At the age of 16 she started writing hooks for music groups in St Louis, Mo.
While absorbing life, in 2005 she began to share her experiences with the world as of this day she continues to give all she can.
