I left Durham NC for Los Angeles to attempt working in the music business. I did work, but was not successful. I would say David Bowie has had the biggest impact on my taste in music and culture. Pop with avante garde sensibilities is what I like. Usually theatrical performers make for the best concerts to witness. At the moment besides my favorites like Bowie Roxy Music the Beatles the Kinks Small Faces, I very much like Female singers that have an edge and you can dance to. Siouxsee, Kate Bush, Beth Orton, Sarah Cracknell of St Etienne Bjork Ladytron the Metrics Tegan and Sara Madonna Kylie Minogue Roisin Murphy Electrocute Puffy Ami Yumi Duffy the Duke Spirit Garbage Blondie Robyn are all in my soundmixes I listen to. I also like female vocalists that record with trance dj's Paul Van Dyk, Ferry Corsten, Markus Schulz,Armin Van Buuren. Kraftwerk and Brian Eno's work in the 70's has had a big impact on my listening taste. Visually like modern post modern Bauhaus and anything Japanese. Surprised there is not a a wider selection of music I like out of Japan. Though I think my contemporaries listen to the same music as I do.
