Music is the basis of any happy man/woman/island. For myself, that'd include anything and everything. Some say they listen to anyting but country, I used to say anything but techno, but now... now I can see that even that takes some time, effort, skill.
I cried for the state of rap and "urban" music in general when hooks became reptitive and people started blabbering on and on about beats, but couldn't name a single line past the chorus that was pounded into their heads. That was until I realized that this period of pointless lyrics is akin to the trash that will plauge a genre when it becomes "pop." So from now on, I'll consider Mims, Soulja Boy, and the countless other one hitters as the Backstreet Boys of rap and hip-hop. Hopefully, this will all blow over in a couple of years. Til then... I moving underground.
