My first album was The Beatles Sergeant Pepper, and my older siblings were listening to Moody Blues, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Yes, and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. I've continued in these themes, enjoying folk, classic rock, progressive rock, art rock, and added in punk, heavy metal, geek stuff, female rock vocalists. But that's not all because my Dad was a part-time classical musician on pipe organ (pro) and piano (amateur).
Currently actively supporting (enabling?) local independent rock musicians, including Storm Large, Kleveland, and I tend to follow local producers to their projects as well. As important as the rock is to shake out the cobwebs in my mind is seeing my friends who come out to listen, or to perform.
I have no strong musical instrument performance talent, but do casually sing harmony and I have a good ear (what's left of them - WEAR EAR PROTECTION, I do all the time now). For fun I pound tabla/doumbek and make attempts at playing guitar, and I have piano lessons in my distant past.
