Music has always been very important to me, and times even a direct inspiration to me in life and something to lean on in a hard time. It all makes a little bit more sense when you can hear the voice and thoughts of someone else that's gone through the same challenges. If nothing else, listening to some music like the more depressing side of Counting Crows makes you appreciate the fact that even your life isn't that f**ked up!
As for what I look for in music; lyrics that are meaningful, artists that aren't afraid to experiment and try something different, and generally good musicianship.
