My parents listened to talk radio so I grew up without much musical influence until about age 13. The first CD's I ever bought were Pearl Jam's Ten, Vitalogy, and Animals, as well as Metallica's Black album in about 1994. From there I was hooked on music and began listening to classic rock, alternative, and reggae. Soon, I discovered Phish, which became a turning point musically for me. That opened my mind to a whole new world of jam music which became my preference for a long time (and still is). Because jam bands play long drawn out psychedelic instrumentals with amazing peaks sprinkled in, I soon also became a big fan of electronic music beginning with Paul Oakenfold, Sasha & Digweed, and others. Now, I can find pleasure in listening to almost anything from country, folk, blue-grass, some hip-hop, even (gasp) top 40 if the occasion is right (when others with less musical adventurousness are around). My preferences are usually jam bands, reggae, and electronica. Phish, Slightly Stoopid, Daft Punk, Underworld...all very tasty...but there are many more. Too many to list here.
