My musical palate evolved from psychedelia (Purple Haze!!...), the 60's British invasion, rock, acoustic and electric blues, and Memphis/Stax soul (via 60's Mississippi AM radio) into an eclectic blend of jazz, world music, blues, funk, soul, pop, and R&B. Lately, Bobby McFerrin has set me on a course of listening to vocal artists of all persuasions. What a revelation that has been!
I listen for joy, whatever the genre, and have learned to appreciate many musical artists for the manifest joy of their expression.
A note about my stations: I select artists and songs I like to seed stations but my primary objective is to find new music. I have found that some stations are more productive than others in presenting new sounds that I like. So, I prune the list regularly and 'audition' new seeds. It seems to work. I usually "shuffle all" and like most of what I hear and routinely hear new talent.
What a great thing...
