Music is an integral part of my life. I could not see ever living without it. In middle school i joined band and played the clarinet. As i progressed and learned more about music theory, i began looking into the music of the day and the music my parents liked. I found myself captivated by the styles of Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, and eventually the great heavy metal artists of Metallica and Megadeth.
I worked my way up to both top level bands in middle school and high school, but eventually became intrigued by the guitar. My first year of high school i began playing a simple Fender acoustic, and not even half a year later got my first electric: a Fender Squier Strat. Not even a year after that i got a Jackson King V and Line 6 Spider III 75. A year after that i was forced to quit high school band, but had the knowledge and potential to become a much better guitarist.
Two years after i got my first electric guitar (Fender) i got an EMG 81 and EMG 60 to go in my Jackson, and they made the decent tone from my Line 6 slightly better. Now i own a Randall RM80 with a Salvation Loneclean, Jaded Faith Recto, Gigmods 1087, and an Ultra Lead. I also have a DBZ Imperial ST Gold Top and a Gibson 1984 Flying V.
But my musical intrests have expanded greatly from when i first got into it. I first got into Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Metallica, Megadeth, Three days Grace, Breaking Benjamin, 3 Doors Down, Pink Floyd, etc. Basically heavy metal, classic rock, and blues.
But eventually i have found the heavier side of metal to be really inviting. Bands such as Shadows Fall, All That Remains, In Flames, Soilwork, Pantera, etc. Swedish Melodic Death metal in particular, but also american bands like Shadows Fall. I now prefer to listen to metal/rock, but still like to listen to blues, jazz, classical, etc.
