Born north of Boston in the mid 80s, his love for music began when watching and listening to his father play Classic Rock and Blues as a child. JFliz also fell in love with Hip Hop after hearing albums like 36 Chambers and Illmatic while still in elementary school. Music influenced him at such a young age, he wrote and performed his first song on stage at the age of 10.
He would continue to mold his craft, writing hundreds of verses in his middle school career. He met his long time friend, Vinyl Villain, in high school and they clicked instantly. Constantly cutting class to spin records and freestyle, it seemed inevitable that music would play a huge role in their lives. Vinyl Villain attended Ai, in Brookline, MA, for Audio Production and the two have been recording music ever since.
From 2008-2012, JFliz also was the founder and front man for the group, North of Boston. An eclectic 4 man group (and later became 5) that brought all their different musical backgrounds together to form a hip hop/jazz/funk/rock mash up. They gained popularity and had success in the Boston scene playing shows at every major venue for years. They did release a self titled five track EP and made a memorable appearance on UNRegular Radio in 2011 but soon after Fliz took time off from the group to pursue his solo career. However talks of a return for the group have been rumored.
Fliz went on to release his first full length album, All From Nothing, in August of 2012. Produced by Vinyl Villain, he had guest producers such as The Arcitype and Killah Kibba. Also on board he had veterans such as AOTP's Esoteric and Planetary, along with The Kreators, XL, and Alias of OVM. His engineer Young Jedi brought the album to life along with DJ Slipwax on all the cuts and scratches.
The album continues to still have success as Fliz and Vinyl Villain currently work on their next album, an EP expected to drop in early 2014.
