in junior hs. my teachers said i couldnt learn to play an instrument because my grades were not high enough. later that year, i joined the warriors drum and bugle corps. they taught us how to read music, first teaching us how to play by ear. myself, i played the barritone bugle. later, my mother told my teachers, what i did on my own. in my senior year, i played the kettle drums with the orchestra for graduation. i did six months duty with the marine corps band before going to nam. i guess what got be interested in music, a friend of my mother who played the vibes. gave me my first 33 albam in 1959 (lionel hampton's silver vibes ). i enjoy going to the clubs for the live performances, as to get the real feel of the sound. when i listen to music, i hear what goes into making it, not just the music itself. my favorite artise are noel pointer, pat metheny group and dave brewbeck among the few.
