As a kid I grew up in the midwest...dirt town to be more descriptive. As was such, I was exposed to only country music. I liked it ok, my fave band was the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.
And suddenly one night when I was spending the night at a friends house after a little league game (I did't get a hit...I never did), his dad puts a cassette in and pushes play. What was to follow would forever mold my musical taste. In 5 min and 32 secs my mind was opened up to "Enter Sandman".
For a decade and a half I would listen only to heavy metal. Then I started working at Best Buy when I was 22. There I bought my first HD television, and on that TV I saw what is now my favorite band in the world...Muse's "Stockholm Syndrome".
I'm not going to lie...that was the first song that I had heard since listening to Metallica, where after it was over I was scrambling to write the band name down.
Now I'm a little here and there. Muse is my favorite band, and because of that I have expanded my Indie Rock horizons. I like the Arctic Monkeys, Bloc Party. I like some rap...and living in Brooklyn I love Jay-Z. But I still have my Alice in Chains playlist for when I really want to rock hard with the guys from the good ol' days.
