I was born in the Boyle Hights Maternity Cottage. My mom loved this type of music and I guess she just showed me all the different artists and I just continued to enjoy it. As a young man I would sneak over to the Watts area and stand outside of the taverns these artists were playing like Bobby Bland, Lil Julian Herrera, and of course Johnny Otis. I still collect their music and much much more. If only there were places here where folks played this way. I would be in heaven. Thanks for listening. Lami
